From September 21 to September 24, Professor Qiu Dong of Beijing Normal University, at the invitation of the School of Statistics, held a four-day series of lectures in the academic lecture hall of our graduate school. This lecture is divided into four themes. The lecture was hosted by Vice President Liu Xiaoli. The teachers of the School of Statistics and all the graduate students attended the lecture.

In the lecture, Professor Qiu Dong pointed out that we should take feasibility as the king when doing data analysis, break the imperceptible influence of progressivism on our cognition, and pay attention to the equal emphasis on forward thinking and reverse thinking. He also reminded students to use professional training to reduce the obscure data interpretation in the process of studying economic statistics. Research must be cooperative, but everyone can't just do a paragraph, they need to understand the whole process. Later, he also mentioned: Today's economic statistics are measuring unpredictable things, and there are numbers but no evidence. He warned students that doing research does not require perfection.

In every lecture of Professor Qiu Dong, the witty words and golden sentences frequently appeared, and the humorous words greatly increased the students' interest in learning. This feast of knowledge has enabled teachers and students to further broaden their academic horizons and have a deeper understanding and thinking about academic development. At the same time, it will also positively promote the research and development of our school's teachers and students in related fields in the future. At the end of the lecture, Ping Weiying, Dean of the School of Statistics, once again welcomed and thanked Professor Qiu Dong for coming. The series of lectures ended successfully in warm applause.
