On the morning of February 23, 2023, Prof. Chen Songxi, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, was appointed as the chief scientist of statistics discipline of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics.

Guo Jiezhong, Deputy Secretary of the Education Work Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Provincial Education Department, Liu Hansong, Second Inspector of the Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee, Lu Fucai, Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, Deng Hui, President of the university, attended the ceremony, and Gong Jianfei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, presided over the ceremony. School leaders Que Shan-dong, Yuan Xiong, Li Chungen, Chen Shifa at home and the main responsible persons of the Party Office, School Office, Organization Department of the Party Committee, Personnel Department, Propaganda Department of the Party Committee, Academic Affairs Department, Scientific Research Department, Graduate School and other functional departments, members of the team of the School of Statistics, chief professors and representatives of teachers and students, more than 300 people attended the ceremony.

After the ceremony, an academic lecture was held, in which Academician Chen Songxi gave a lecture entitled Construction of Highly Spatial and Temporal Resolved Economic Datasets and Models, and Professor Luo Liangqing of the School of Statistics presided over the lecture. Starting from his team's report on the quality of air pollution survey, Chen Songxi pointed out that the economic system can draw on the paradigm of atmospheric science and the specific paradigm that can be drawn from it, and then pointed out that China needs the digital twin of the economic system, and explained in depth the practical application and modeling of building high spatial and temporal resolution economic data sets and economic models. He then pointed out the need for a digital twin of the economic system in China, and explained in depth the practical application, advantages and disadvantages of building high spatial and temporal resolution economic data sets and economic models. Finally, Academician Chen pointed out the objectives and the importance of the digital twin in the context of domestic and international research. After the lecture, representatives of teachers and students interacted with Academician Chen on related fields, and the atmosphere was warm.

In the afternoon of 22nd, a symposium was held between academician Chen Songqi and young teachers of the School of Statistics, in which young key teachers and academicians shared their research fields and directions and exchanged views with academician Chen. Dean of the School of Statistics Ping Weiying, Vice Dean Guo Lu and Liu Xiaohui introduced the overall situation of the School and the construction of Key Laboratory of Financial Data Science respectively.

The appointment of academician Chen Songxi as the chief scientist of statistics discipline is a major breakthrough for our university to continue to promote the attraction and cultivation of high-level leading talents and to fully implement the strategy of talent strengthening the province and talent strengthening the university.

Chen Songxi, Chair Professor of Peking University, was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021. He is currently the Executive Director of the Chinese Statistical Society, Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Fellow of the American Statistical Association, Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and Scientific Secretary of the Bernoulli Society. He was selected as one of the top 2% of scientists in the world by Stanford University in 2020. He was awarded the Lowa State University Faculty Distinguished Research Award, the 7th Yi-Ning Li Research Award, and the 2017 First Prize of Natural Science from the Ministry of Education. Academician Songxi Chen is mainly engaged in research in the fields of statistical analysis of ultra-high-dimensional big data, environmental statistics, and non-parametric statistical methods. Taking the major needs of national air pollution prevention and control as the starting point, he has made cutting-edge crossover results in the field of mathematical geophysics, which provides scientific methods for accurate measurement of pollution emissions and assessment of atmospheric control effects. Since 2014, he has been conducting statistical analysis of air pollution in China, proposing the method of air quality assessment without meteorological interference and the human effort - heaven help index. He has chaired several major and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including the National Key Research and Development Program Air Quality Statistical Diagnostic Model, and published more than 110 papers in international academic journals.
