On May 20, 2024, the Overseas Doctoral Graduation Defense of the School of Statistics and Data Science was held as scheduled. The experts who participated in the defense include Prof. Liu Min from Nanchang University, Prof. He Xiaogang from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Prof. Zhang Hua from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Prof. Guo Lu from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and Prof. Tan Li from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics.

Before the thesis defense began, Mr. Liu Yuzi introduced the procedure, rules and other requirements of our overseas doctoral graduation defense. At the beginning of the defense, students went on stage in turn to make a comprehensive presentation on the background and significance of the dissertation topic, the current status of research at home and abroad, the content of the research, the research methodology and the work plan. Rizwan Munir, an overseas PhD student of the class of 2020, discussed the use of improved non-parametric statistical quality control charts in the monitoring process. Twahil Hemed Shakiru, an overseas PhD student of the class of 2021, presented his dissertation on statistical modeling and analysis of carbon dioxide emissions in East Africa. Khin Sandi Myint, an overseas PhD student of the class of 2021, used supervised learning methods to study domestic violence in Myanmar. The professors asked questions, affirmed or challenged the issues in the students' presentations, suggested modifications, and finally graded them according to the specific assessment indicators of the Overseas Doctoral Graduation Defense Grading Criteria.
