​2024年6月3日-7日，在秘鲁利马举行的国际小域估计大会上（SAE 2023-24；https://sae2023.pucp.edu.pe），我校特聘教授蒋继明荣获2023-2024年度小域估计杰出贡献奖（Award for Outstanding Contribution to Small Area Estimation；简称SAE Award），见https://sae2023.pucp.edu.pe/award-nomination。

蒋继明教授是该奖项设立以来的第七位获奖人，前6位获奖人分别是J. N. K. Rao (2017), Danny Pfeffermann (2018), Malay Ghosh (2019), Partha Lahiri (2020), Wayne Fuller (2021), Robert Fay (2022)，因秘鲁政治动乱，原定2023年在利马举行的小域估计会议推迟到了今年，因此，2023年度的SAE Award与2024年合并，蒋继明教授也成为近两年小域估计杰出贡献奖的唯一获奖者。

蒋继明，加利福尼亚大学戴维斯分校统计系主任，同时也是江西财经大学教育部“长江学者讲座教授”，先后被选为 American Association for the Advancement of Science  (AAAS; 美国科学促进协会) 以及Institute of Mathematical Statistics（IMS）、 American Statistical Association（ASA）等国际著名统计协会的 Fellow，International Statistical Institute (ISI) 的Elected Member (荣誉会员)，获得 Outstanding Statistical Application Award (ASA), Distinguished Alumni Award (formerly Postdoctoral Fellow Achievement Award; National Institute of Statistical Science, USA),  the 31st Morris Hansen Lecture (2023)，并担任 Journal of American Statistical Association、The Annals of Statistics 等顶级统计学期刊的副主编，蒋继明教授的主要研究方向为混合效应分析、小域估计，模型选择、生物遗传学、统计渐近理论，已在 The Annals of Statistics, Journal of American Statistical Association, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series B 和 Biometrika 等统计学国际顶级期刊发表论文100 多篇，出版专著5本。
