I. Training Objectives
To cultivate the well-developed and high-level international talents who understand China’s political, economic and diplomatic systems, as well as its mainstream core values and public morals, who have a good sense of legal system and sense of social responsibility, who are morally sound, physically and mentally healthy, friendly to China and meet the needs of society, and who have the quality of “Trust, Sensitivity, Honesty and Perseverance”.
1. General Requirements:
(1). Through systematic study and research, master the solid and broad basic theory and systematic and in-depth professional knowledge of this discipline, master appropriate skills and methods, have the ability to independently engage in scientific research and solve practical problems, have strong ability to synthesize and present independent insights into the fields of science and technology relevant to the research area, obtain innovative research results, and have a strong career ambition.
(2). Have a broad international vision in the field of this discipline, innovate and develop the theories, skills and methods of this discipline in the world, and have a competitive advantage in international affairs.
2. Specific Requirements:
(1) Skillfully search and read books and academic journals related to the discipline, keep abreast of the latest developments in the academic development of the discipline and the major issues at the forefront of research, and have a good understanding of the basic theory of level I discipline.
(2) Be familiar with the writing specifications of scientific papers, write academic papers in English independently, and initially have the ability of independent research.
(3) Set up basic courses and elective courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and get better teaching results.
II. Research Direction
1. Applied Statistics (degree in science)

III. Length and Duration of Schooling
Overseas doctoral students for 3 years
1. overseas doctoral students are required to study for three years. If necessary, they can extend their duration of schooling for three to six years.
2. In principle, overseas students receiving government scholarships shall be trained according to the duration of schooling stipulated by China Scholarship Council. If the duration of schooling exceeds the prescribed period, the students shall apply for extension of the scholarship duration of schooling or be transferred to self-funded overseas students according to the provisions of China Scholarship Council.
3.Doctoral students shall not study for more than six years, and their enrollment shall be cancelled after the deadline.)
IV. Scientific Research Requirements:
The postgraduate students must complete the individual training program under the guidance of the supervisor, participate in scientific research according to the requirements of the individual training program, actively participate in relevant research topics of the supervisor, and actively apply for various scientific research funds.
(Ⅰ) Requirements for academic thesis
The postgraduate students are required to publish at least one academic thesis related to their major direction and the contents of their academic theses in a national or international official journal or accepted by an international academic conference. All published academic thesis must be signed first by Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics.
(II) Requirements for academic report
Doctoral students should give at least one public academic report at the university or one thesis presentation at the academic seminar of the discipline. Moreover, doctoral students should fill in the Registration Form of Doctoral Academic Activities of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, and submit it to the training organization for summary after being signed by the supervisor, and submit it to the degree department of the graduate school for review as one of the qualifications for graduation.
V. Credit Requirements and Curriculum Settings
1. Credit structure
Doctoral students should complete the required total credits at school, which can be divided into two categories: course credits and graduation thesis credits. The minimum total credits of doctoral students taught in English is 30, including minimum 24 credits for courses, 2 credits for academic thesis and 4 credits for graduation thesis.
2. Requirements for Chinese language
Doctoral students who are taught in English must pass the examination of HSK Level 3 upon graduation to obtain a certificate of doctoral degree.

VI. Training and Assessment Method
1. Training Method
The training method implements the tutor responsibility system. The tutor has formulated the doctoral candidate training program according to the “Measures of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics for Management of the Training of Foreign Postgraduate Students Studying in China”, and is responsible for guidance of foreign students in training segment during their study. The tutor may be provided with counselors or associate tutors as required, who may assist the tutor in teaching, scientific research and thesis writing. The assistant tutors should assist chief counselor in making the training program for overseas doctoral students, and conducting daily management of overseas students (regularly communicate with overseas doctoral students to understand their study and life trends), and should assist chief counselor in information communication (including information exchange with the Graduate School and the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange). Specific training methods include:
(1) The combination of classroom learning and social practice, systematic learning and specialized research.
(2) Focus on self-taught, adopt heuristic, research & development teaching.
(3) Teach postgraduate students in accordance with their aptitude and give full play to their personal strengths, and pay attention to the training of postgraduate students’ self-taught ability, expression ability, scientific research collaboration ability and innovation ability.
2. Course Assessment
Public degree courses,public elective courses must organize and implement standardized classroom examinations according to the unified deployment of the Graduate Faculty. The postgraduate students can obtain corresponding course credits only after passing the examinations. For professional degree courses and direction elective courses, the class teachers shall, according to the actual teaching contents with reference to the relevant regulations of the Graduate Faculty, adopt classroom examination or writing course essays or other assessment methods to conduct scientific and reasonable course assessment on the students, and give course assessment scores. The students can obtain the corresponding course credits only after the assessment is reasonable.
VII. Mid-term Assessment
The mid-term assessment is generally conducted in the fourth semester after the admission of doctoral students. The three-year master should complete the mid-term assessment in the fourth semester, while the two-year master should complete the mid-term assessment in the third semester. Only those who pass the examination can enter the next link of learning. The postgraduate students who cannot attend the assessment on schedule due to some reason shall apply for extension of the assessment two weeks before the mid-term assessment and may extend it once with the consent of the supervisor and the person in charge of the postgraduate student training organization. In principle, it is required to complete the assessment within three months after the extension application is approved. The postgraduate student who does not go through the extension procedure or does not attend the assessment on schedule because of unapproved application will be marked as “Fail” in mid-term assessment level rating. Detailed assessment method is detailed in the Implementation Measures for Mid-term Assessment of Postgraduate Students of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (revised in 2019) (J.C.Y.J.Z. [2019] No.12).
VIII. Thesis Proposal and defense
1、For writing thesis, Overseas doctoral students should read a lot of materials to determine the bibliography of research references and read in a planned way, so as todetermine the topic of their dissertation in the second semester under the guidance of their supervisor. Overseas doctoral students should finish the thesis proposal report in the fourth semester, and the thesis proposal report is at least one year away from the defense time。
2. Overseas doctoral students should consult no less than 100 domestic and foreign literatures according to their selected research direction and the requirements of the thesis topic.
3. The students who are taught in English should write their thesis proposal and thesis in English. They must translate the topic and abstract of thesis into Chinese.
4. Before March of the final year, overseas doctoral students should attend the preliminary defense of their doctoral thesis and modify their thesis according to the opinions of the Defense Committee. Before May of the final year, overseas doctoral students should their doctoral thesis defense. The respondent must present his/her thesis results to the public during about an hour of defense. After the defense is over, the Defense Committee should hold a closed-door meeting to determine whether to approve the student’s thesis. Overseas doctoral students should submit their thesis in an acceptable electronic form to the Graduate School, and also should submit four paper copies to the Graduate School. Overseas doctoral students should keep their thesis in electronic files at school.
5. The thesis defense and review of overseas doctoral students shall be conducted in accordance with relevant regulations of the school.

注:
1.总学分最低为30学分,其中,课程学分最低为24学分、学术论文2学分、毕业论文4学分。学位课成绩75分为合格,选修课成绩60分为合格。
2.一般每学分为16学时。
3.其他培养环节如培养过程中应完成的学习实践行为。包括社会实践、科研、文献报告综述、中期考核、论文开题报告会、预答辩环节等,由各学院(所)自定。
Notes:
1.The minimum total credit is 30 credits, among which, the minimum course credit is 24 credits, 2 credits for academic thesis and 4 credits for graduation thesis. 75 scores of degree course refer to be qualified, and 60 scores of elective course refer to be qualified.
2. Generally, each credit requires 16 hours.
3. Other training segments such as learning practice behavior which should be completed in the training process include social practice, scientific research, literature report review, mid-term assessment, thesis proposal report, pre-defense link, etc., which shall be determined by each college (institute).
