On July 3th, the Institute of statistics held its fourth summer camp online as scheduled. On the first day of the class, the students successfully completed the course taught by Professor Luo Liangqing and Professor Ping Wei Ying.  

     On the morning of July 4th, at the invitation of the school of statistics, Thomas P Peng Liang, chief professor of Bowles risk management and Actuarial Science, introduced the course contents of models in insurance and finance to let students have a deep understanding of the application of Actuarial Science in various fields. At the same time, Professor Peng introduced the commonly used statistical software R studio forstudents.

On the afternoon of July 4th, Tao Changqi, a national engineering talent candidate, a special allowance expert of the State Council, a new century talent of the Ministry of education, and the chief professor of Jiangxi University of Finance and economics, gave a lecture to the students. The teaching content mainly focused on the enrollment situation of the master of quantitative economics in recent years, the prospect of quantitative economics and the introduction of its core courses. Professor Tao's course provides more ideas for students to apply for quantitative economics in the future.

On the morning of July 5th, Professor Jiang Jiming of the University of California, Davis, lectured on the course of mixed model prediction. Professor Jiang's main research fields are mixed effect model, small area estimation, model selection, big data intelligence and statistical genetics. His research has achieved internationally recognized academic achievements in related fields. Professor Jiang's teaching method is flexible and changeable. He led the students to learn the principle of hybrid model and how to use it.

At the tutor exchange meeting on the afternoon of July 5th, Mr. Liu Qing introduced to the students the research direction of economic statistics, mathematical statistics and applied statistics, as well as the enrollment situation of master's degree in our college in recent years, and answered the relevant questions of students applying for the major of statistics in our college.

Although the students participated in this course online, they also felt the excellent style of study of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and the academically rigorous teachers. With the cooperation of teachers and students, the fourth summer camp of the outstanding undergraduates of the School of Statistics has come to a successful end!
