In September 2023, the School of Statistics and Data Science of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) welcomed NSAVYIMANA OLIVIER, an overseas Ph.D. student of the class of 2023. In the afternoon of September 15, OLIVIER, who is from Burundi, had his first meeting with his supervisor, Mr. Chuanquan Li.

During the meeting, OLIVIER firstly introduced his study experience, work experience and rich research experience, and was thrilled to be able to study and research in the School of Statistics and Data Science of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. He was looking forward to learning more about Chinese culture here, to study in-depth in the fields of mathematical statistics and economic statistics, and to make his own scientific research results as soon as possible. The supervisor welcomed OLIVIER's arrival and gave him a detailed introduction of the teaching plan and doctoral training program of the college. The two sides exchanged ideas on cutting-edge statistical research directions such as digital economy, high-dimensional statistics and environmental statistics. Finally, the supervisor said that the institute has accumulated rich experience in training international PhDs, and can provide sufficient academic resources and support for Olivier's doctoral career, and expects him to use the tools of statistics to solve major social and scientific problems through his doctoral research.

In recent years, the School of Statistics and Data Science of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics has brought in more than ten overseas doctoral students, marking an important step in the internationalization of doctoral training. The institute has always been committed to cultivating outstanding overseas doctoral students, providing international students with rich academic resources, internationalized teaching environment and comprehensive life protection. It is believed that this place will become an ideal habitat for more overseas doctoral students to expand their academic horizons and conduct research.
